CONSULTATIONS

DENTAL CONSULTATION

At Molson Park Dental Office, we place a high priority on patient education. We will always answer questions and we offer three levels of consultations, depending on what you want when you come to our office.

Both Dr. Layth and Dr. May are cosmetic dentists and physiologic dentists, so we have a wide array of offerings.

General Consultations

These are for people with questions. A treatment coordinator will talk with you and give clear answers to your questions, taking about 15 to 20 minutes in all. If you would like to talk more about having any particular dental procedures, we will schedule another time for you to discuss things with Dr. Layth or Dr. May. There is no charge for a general consultation.

Consultation With Examination

In this type of consultation, you first speak with a treatment coordinator and then cosmetic dentists, Dr. Layth and Dr. May will do a dental exam to determine what sort of dentistry is needed. If he finds that you have good dental health, you can go ahead and make an appointment for whatever procedure you would like to have. It could be cosmetic dentistry, such as teeth whitening or a tooth-coloured filling; or it could be physiologic dentistry if you are interested in having your bite realigned.

If either Dr. Layth or Dr. May finds that you have some degree of gum disease, he will want to address that before beginning any dental work, or perhaps concurrently with other work. These consultations last for about an hour with a dental hygienist.

CONSULTATION WITH EXAMINATION

These consultations are rather specific in their focus and can be any of four types:

    • A smile consultation covers cosmetic dentistry work such as porcelain veneers or a smile makeover
    • A neuromuscular consultation is for those who are suffering from TMJ headaches or other TMJ symptoms, and who would like to have work done to correct a misaligned jaw
    • Invisalign® consultations are for those who need some degree of orthodontic work to straighten their teeth. If the misalignment is too severe for Invisalign®, Dr. Layth and Dr. May will refer you to an orthodontist
    • Periodontal consultations are for those with gum disease. Once gum disease takes hold, a focused effort is necessary to clean it out and, depending on how severe it is, this may have to be done before any other dental work. Many people have gum disease without realizing it. Research has found that gum disease is linked to heart problems and stroke because the bacteria get into the bloodstream, and travel from the mouth to other parts of the body.

We are a Family Friendly Practice

At Molson Park Dental Office, we provide family dentistry services. Toronto and Barrie dentist, Dr. Layth works with every child to build trust and comfort through the entire dental visit process.
